Important Role of Cavaville’s Oily Sludge Treatment Equipment in Shale Gas Development in Hubei Province

In recent years, the exploration and development of shale gas in Hubei Province has been continuously deepened, and the reserve potential evaluation has also been improving. In July, 2017, high-yield shale gas flows and the world’s oldest shale gas reservoir was discovered. Experts predicted that the gas reserve exceed 500 billion cubic meters.
During the exploration and development, environmental protection issue also attracts great attention. In 2017, Cavaville’s oily sludge treatment equipment and personnel completed the treatment of oily drilling cuttings produced by Well Eyiye-1, -2 and Eyangye-2. The resulting solid wastes were tested by the world-renowned authority Pony Testing International Group. The oil content was proved to be less than 3‰, the resulting water reached the National Secondary Discharge Standard, and various indicators all met the environmental requirement. The oil recovery rate reached up to 99% and the recovered oil was used as fuel to our equipment after special treatment, which reduced the treatment costs. Some of the treated oily drilling cuttings were conventional oil-based drilling cuttings after centrifugal drying, while some were oil-based drilling cuttings with high liquid content that had not been centrifuged. According to the materials with different liquid content, our project crew overcame the difficulties and accomplished the project successfully by adopting materials-mixing processing technology. Cavaville’s treatment results and performance were highly appraised by clients. Our oily sludge treatment equipment mainly adopts thermal desorption technology. Since 2015, our equipment has been applied to the oily sludge treatment projects of CNOOC, SINOPEC and CNPC and has processed more than 5000 tons of materials in total.
The high-efficiency and professional treatment process of Cavaville as well as the safe and high-quality treatment results were highly appraised by the client, and play an important role in environmental protection of shale gas development in Hubei Province.
